LIDAR can accurately measure the distance to an object by emitting light from itself and receiving the reflected light from the object.
MOLI stands for Multi-Footprint Observation LIDAR and Imager. As the name suggests, it is the first forest observation system to use lidar and an imager simultaneously for multiple footprint (laser measurement point) observations.
