The importance of “large-scale forest monitoring” is rapidly increasing in the context of climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable forest management. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will host an international workshop as described below, with the aim of sharing the latest research findings and technological trends in large-scale forest monitoring and strengthening international collaboration.

This workshop will feature presentations and discussions by researchers and engineers from Japan and abroad on topics such as remote sensing, observations using space-based, aircraft, drone, and ground-based LiDAR systems, integrated data analysis, and forest resource monitoring. We look forward to welcoming many participants to this forum for academic and technical exchange aimed at promoting sustainable forest management and addressing global environmental issues.
