Significance of the Research
Research on the core technologies for high-capacity satellite communications, together with technologies for radio-wave propagation control, will enable satellite communication systems to meet increasingly diverse user requirements while improving communication performance and reliability.
Technologies such as High-Power Optical Amplifiers, digital coherent communications, and high-sensitivity receivers are essential for the development of lunar communications infrastructure. Establishing these technological capabilities will enable Japan to fulfill its role in international cooperative space programs, including the Artemis initiative.
Furthermore, developing more accurate and robust positioning technologies, which are resistant to interference, will directly improve convenience in everyday life.
